Yves Saint Laurent
Yves Saint Laurent is one of my favourite designers. I was so lucky to model some YSL Collections in Paris. Their collections are so chic, & beautifully designed.
After studying fashion in Paris at the Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture, Christian Dior, then the world’s reigning couturier hired Yves in 1955.
The fashion legend, Dior unexpectedly died in 1957 and the 21-year-old Yves succeeded him. At this young age, Saint Laurent shook traditional couture fashion to its core with youthful silhouettes and styles such as the A-line trapeze dress that hung with seeming effortlessness from the shoulders, the complete opposite of the pinched waists and moulded skirts that had been around for so long.
Yves went on to create with Pierre Berge, his lover, who became his lifelong business partner, Yves Saint Laurent YSL, encompassing ready to wear, opening their first YSL Rive Gauche women’s boutique in Paris in 1966. Ready to wear had been created during a time of great transformation & experimentation and came to dominate the Paris fashion scene. Saint Laurent created an international brand

I believe this beautiful suit comes from the Spring Summer 1992 Collection.
Four years before retiring in 2002, Yves said, “I am no longer concerned with sensation and innovation, but with the perfection of my style.” After a long period of ill health, he died at his home in Paris on June 1, 2008.
Yves Saint Laurent was a fashion visionary and many of his designs are today considered timeless classics.
