Here at EDG we have our own story of championing British Manufacturing in the Jewellery quarter of Birmingham, when we started to develop a new range of Luxury cufflinks within the Natalie O’Hara “EDG London” designer jewellery collection. After serious deliberation, we decided we truly wanted to support British Manufacturing using the great skills and craftsmanship that are still available here in the UK.
English Heritage describes “The Jewellery Quarter has a particular combination of structures associated with jewellery and metalworking which does not seem to exist anywhere else in the world. It’s a national treasure”
Unfortunately, there has been a huge reduction in the number of jewellery factories, in Birmingham’s jewellery quarter but we discovered a small number of companies with wonderful enthusiasm, combined with a great talent of skills and craftsmanship that has made the jewellery quarter famous throughout the world, and that could still produce our jewellery to the exacting standards and quality we required, also with the ongoing advantage of a local ongoing personal working relationship.
We are very proud to say that all our fashion accessories have always been manufactured in Great Britain, supporting the unique talents we have. The manufacturing process of our cufflinks and other fine jewellery is entirely made in the Jewellery quarter of Birmingham, using the traditional skills and craftsmanship that are still available, whilst also bringing much needed employment to the British Fashion Industry.
